 Adopting a friend:

We strive to place animals in a home where they will receive love and care for the remainder of their lives. We want to assist you in making a choice that works well for your family. For that reason, you will be asked to complete an Adoption Application that will be screened by our shelter administrator.

Adoption Fees

The adoption fee helps cover part of the shelter's cost of providing required vaccines appropriate at the time of adoption and spaying/neutering.

Dogs:  The adoption fee is $75 for dogs.  Dogs that require additional medical treatment to restore them to health and ready them for adoption may require a higher adoption fee.

Cats:  The adoption fee is $60 for cats.

Appointments

You may make an appointment to view the animals for adoption by calling 870-240-8117. Leave a message if your call is not answered. Volunteers may be outside working or doing a vet run.

NOTE: No animals are released to new owners until an application review and vet screening has been completed. This means that if you come to the shelter and find a new friend to adopt, you will not be able to take the animal home that day, unless you have been pre-approved for adoption. To get pre-approved, fill out our Adoption Application .

Top Ten Reasons to
Adopt an Adult Dog

(rather than a puppy)

10)  What you see is what you get.  None of this "cute little Clifford magically morphs into a dog the size of a house!"
9)  Just as "bondable" as a puppy--their hearts are bigger, to hold even more love for YOU.
8)  The "chew everything in sight" stage is OVER!!!
7)  They have all their expensive puppy vet care out of the way already.
6)  They may already be potty trained; if not, it should be easier and take less time--fewer accidents!!!
5)  Puppy insanity has settled into a more consistent personality--or should we say "dogality?"
4)  They are mature enough to realize that you are their HERO!
3)  Why run with all the other sheep?  Be an individual.
2)  Better manners!

And the number one reason to adopt an adult dog:
1)  They need you more.
